2005/09/02 | Permalink | Source

Actress Kim So-yeon received much acclaim for her pretty looks at the opening ceremony of the Venice Film Festival, which opened Aug. 31 (local time). Donned in a black dress, Kim stole the foreign media spotlight when she walked down the red carpet along with Hong Kong actress Charlie Yeung and Chinese actress Zhang Jingchu. The three actresses, known as "three Asian beauties", co-star in the movie "Seven Swords", which was screened at the opening ceremony of the festival.

Tiger Pictures, which imported the movie to Korea, said foreign journalists and filmmakers showed great interest in Kim at the opening ceremony. It also added that Kim looked ecstatic as she posed for the cameras with the two other top Asian actresses.

Following the screening of "Seven Swords", Kim received countless requests for interviews from foreign media organizations, and has been busy meeting with journalists since the morning of Sept. 1.

Meanwhile, the popularity of Korean movies is likely to further increase after director Park Chan-wook and actress Lee Young-ae visit the festival shortly for the Sept. 3 screening of their movie "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance".

The festival, now in its 62nd year, will last through Sept. 10".
