"Knowing Brothers" Lee Joon-gi Reveals His Odds for Landing His Role in "The King and the Clown"

2018/10/21 | Permalink | Source

Lee Joon-gi revealed the story of how he landed his iconic role in "The King and the Clown".

He appeared on the JTBC TV show "Knowing Brothers" on the 20th and shared that he had auditioned for "The King and the Clown".

He had a 3,000:1 chance at the time and the original was based on a famous theater play, so the casting had to be a shocking rookie. There were three auditions that went on for a month.

Lee Joon-gi said, "They said the movie could fail miserably due to Gong-gil. All 3,000 competitors were pretty. I was 24-years-old at the time. I thought I needed to stand out, so I performed a stunt and the production loved it. I stood on my hands and did a sideways split. I did the stunt in the real movie, too".
