Ko Seok-Man is named new CEO of KOCCA

Ko Seok-Man, a distinguished Executive Director at MBC, has been named as the new CEO of the Korea Culture and Content Agency (KOCCA).

Kim, Jong-Min, Minister of Culture and Tourism, announced on Oct. 18 that Ko Seok-Man (58), Distinguished Executive Director, assumed the CEO position at KOCCA as of Oct. 19, 2007.

"As the head of an institution that supports the cultural industry, which represents the booming next-generation industry, the new CEO of KOCCA should focus on creative content development, nurturing human resources and global marketing so that the cultural content industry can play a leading role in the country's economic development", said Kim.

Ko studied at Myungji High School and Sorabol College of Arts and majored in film studies at the Graduate School in Chung Ang University. For the last 30 years, Ko has worked as MBC TV PD and Vice-Director, earning a rich experiences in the cultural industry. He has also worked as K-TV Director, CEO at EBS, and Production Director at MBC TV, and has been widely considered as a professional business manager with an outstanding administrative caliber and who has excelled in organization management.

"Amid the rapid changes in the cultural industry, such as the FTA, the fusion between broadcasting and communication, and the new Korea Wave, it is imperative to create cultural content that is competitive in the international market", said Ko. "I will exert all my efforts to contribute to the globalization of Korea's cultural content and solve various issues that Korea's cultural industry faces".

Ko will work as CEO of KOCCA for the next three years.
