KOCCA holds a 'Special Screening of Korean Short Animation' in China

The Korea Culture and Content Agency (KOCCA, CEO: Suh. Byung-Moon), in partnership with the Communication University of China, co-hosted the Aniwow, the International College Students' Animation Festival in China. Nine Korean short animations were featured at the Special Screening of Korean Short Animations.

Now in its second year, Aniwow is an international animation festival sponsored by the State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television (SARFT) of China and attracts college students from over 100 countries. As a co-host of the festival this year, KOCCA screened nine high-quality Korean short animations, which included Africa Africa, I Need a Father, The Artistic Expression of a Metaphysical Butterfly Effect, and Bisexual Equality.

Students at the Communication University of China particularly showed their interest in these Korean animations, saying that they felt more sympathy with them than with European animations. Such interest in Korean animation peaked when Let's Eat, a short animation by Min, Seong-Ah from KNUA, received the grand prize at the festival's competition category.

Aside from the Special Screening of Korean Short Animations, Aniwow also showcased classic Chinese animations celebrating the 80th anniversary of the country's animation industry, excellent animations by Chinese students, Interfilm short animations from Germany, English animations, and lectures conducted by the industry's luminaries.
