KOCCA hosts regular seminars to promote potential of its members

'Content Insight' is held once in two weeks for information exchange in content industry

To be a global content provider leading creative economy, creativity and development of potential are critical. Also essential is accessibility to major issues, technology, and market trends related to content industry.

Against this backdrop, the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA, President & CEO: Lee Jae-woong) as a leading promoter of Korean content began to host 'Content Insight' once in two weeks for its members to share content related knowledge.

The first seminar was held at a meeting room on the 8th floor of the agency's headquarters in Sangam-dong, Seoul, for about one hour from 8:30 a.m. on 11th. The theme was 'Understanding Wireless Internet Content Service' led by Kwon Sung-in, director of Ubiz Valley co., ltd.

Director Kwon is expert in wireless communications (WAP, Mobile Web), mobile content, and solution. He has developed mobile authoring tool and download server for mobile content. Using knowhow he learned from development and research process, he helped participants of the seminar to better understand the theme and contents.

"More than 300 million mobile phones of Samsung and LG electronics have been sold to date. 40 million i-Phones (Apple) have been sold. In terms of sales volume Korean mobile phone brands made good progress. However, i-Phone generates bigger profits through its App Store which provides a wide range of content to consumers. Korean companies should urgently develop content for profit creation", said director Kwon.

"Consumers prefer content which is relevant to their daily lives given that they use wireless internet service of mobile phones on the move. The frequent use of bus information system and high rate of using news content hold significance", added director Kwon.

In the meantime, he pointed out closed mobile business environment and high data fee as problems that mobile environment has.

"Currently, mobile network operators conduct their businesses in a way to hinder compatibility between operators. Therefore, it is necessary to discuss standardization of mobile web, which is applicable to all types of mobile phones", said director Kwon. "1 packet fee is so expensive that it costs 10,000 won to see 20 articles. Packet price should be lowered to a reasonable level", added director Kwon.

To encourage its members to work in a creative way, KOCCA hosts in house seminar 'Content Insight' regularly with lectures delivered by invited experts in the academic and industrial circles. Currently, 'IPTV Market Trends and Outlook' and a wide range of lectures are prepared by KOCCA to forecast the future of content.
