Korea becomes higher as a creation partner country, not a subcontracted production nation

As Korea's animation market scale appears to have increased 3.2% from 315.8 billion won in late 2000 to 325.9 billion won in 2003, domestic animation industry appeared to be on the increase in terms of both its scale and creation capacity.

'A 2005 animation industry white paper' issued by the Ministry of Culture & Tourism and KOCCA (The Korea Culture & Content Agency) said that Korea's production market scale among them increased 25%.

The amount of export concerning subcontracted production decreased, whereas the amount of export of license that sold creation planning animations has increased 45% with $11.41 million in 2003 in comparison to 2002.

As a result, Korea's phase appeared to have become higher as a creation partner country, not a subcontracted production nation.

At the same time, our creation animation appeared to have gained contract performance worth $114.91 million in oversea market in 2004. As oversea business connection of Korean animation changes with priority given to large companies of global scale, joint production with foreign advanced firms appeared to be on the increase greatly.

In the case of independent animation also, 182 independent animations were submitted to 83 festivals at home & abroad last year.
