The Korea Culture Center in Los Angeles, headed by Kim Jong-yul, will show films produced by Korean-American filmmakers to the general public.

The culture center has decided to screen films produced by Korean-American filmmakers every other month. As its first film, the culture center will show for free "Conventioneers", directed by Mora Mi-ok Stephens (30), who has won recognition as a rising star of independent films in Hollywood, on Mar. 17.

"Conventioneers", the first full-length film directed by Stephens, portrays a story of love and conflict between Massey, a delegate to the Republican National Convention in New York in 2004, and his old college friend Leah, a Democratic activist.

"Conventioneers" received high acclaim at the Tribeca Film Festival held in New York in April of last year. It was screened at the Second Los Angeles Korean International Film Festival and at the Pusan International Film Festival.

Stephens received the "John Cassavetes Award" at the 21st Independent Spirit Awards held in Santa Monica on Mar. 4, a first for a Korean-American film director.
