By participating in the annual Tourism Fair of Madrid (FITUR), Korea aims to bring in more European as well as Spanish-speaking tourists from Latin America. Korea has set a target of attracting 20 million foreign tourists this year.

The FITUR, which brings in over 250,000 people in the tourism industry from around the world, runs for five days from Wednesday.

Introducing Korea as this year's partner country on its website, the FITUR wrote that "the collaboration between [Korea] and FITUR will... contribute to strengthening their links by adding Korea's brand to the International Tourism Fair".

Culture Minister Park Yang-woo is expected to meet with his Spanish counterpart there to strengthen ties with Spain as the two countries celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
