Korea's Developing Culture & Contents Technologies

When you put on this vest which is attached to the seat an ocean appears right in front of you.
You can take a look around the world beneath the surface feel the water pressure and temperature and even your body's buoyancy in the water.
This virtual reality technology has been developed for the disabled or people who are training for scuba diving and other marine leisure activities.
You don't even need a remote control as a special sensor can read every movement you make.
And if you take a picture of yourself, it will automatically change the photo into a 3D video clip.

[Interview : Kim Ik-jae, Ilsan resident] "It was really fun seeing how my picture, which I took at this venue, was converted into a 3D animation figure".

At this exhibition, people can enjoy advanced cultural technologies related to virtual reality, 3D and the contents industry.
Korea has invested more than 67 million US dollars into such technologies annually since 2003.
Many companies, universities and institutes are participating in the event to display their convergence techonologies and mobile contents.

[Interview : Yoon Yang-soo, Director Korea Creative Content Agency] "The Korean movie, 'The Host 1', used technologies developed by American firms. But in three to four years' time, such technologies will have been developed here in Korea and 'The Host 2' now uses Korean computer graphic technologies".

Many believe it is now time for the Korean government and related industries to actively invest in cultural and contents technologies which are quickly rising as a new growth engine for the country.
