Korea Spreads Green Growth Know-how around the World

Korea might not be the absolute leader in green technology (yet) but the government is undeniably passionate to keep the planet healthy. I already mentioned how the Korean government strives to make the country greener but did you know that Korea helps developing countries to create their own green roadmaps free of charge?

Advice is always more helpful and realistic when it comes from a source with firsthand experience. This is why Korea is the ideal country to aid developing countries that are seeing negative environmental side effects resulting from their industrialization. Korea's dramatic economic growth over the last 40 years led to pollution and deforestation but over the past couple of decades the country has worked persistently to recover.

To spread its environmental know-how to developing countries, the government created KEITI, an organization that supports green R&D and commercialization of green technologies. Since 2007 this organization has run a program through which it sends a team of Korean specialists to create custom tailored environmental strategies in developing or emerging countries. Till now the program has helped nine countries in Asia and Africa and this year it will add three more to the list: Bangladesh, Chile and Peru.

Through this program, Korea not only helped these countries but also helped Korean companies. Government officials of many recipient countries were impressed with Korea's green technology and decided to sign a contract with some of Korea's companies.
