That is why two major Korean Airline Companies, Korean Air and Asiana Airlines are working toward innovation in service and facilities to provide customers a happier and less stressful flying experience. Both have been recognized with awards for their efforts.

Their efforts were recognized with awards! Korean Air was selected as the world's most innovative airline by airlinetrends.com and Asiana Airlines achieved second place in the Skytrax World Airline Awards.

So, let's take a look at what makes both of these companies airline innovators.

To start, Korean Air made the world's first walk-in duty free shop at the rear of an airplane. They recognized that sometimes passengers get tired of sitting and need an excuse to walk around. They also understood that seeing a full-size product can be much more compelling than looking at 2D pictures in a magazine.

If you're flying Korean Air's new A380 take a few minutes to indulge in the luxurious on-board duty free shop.

Moving from innovative ways to encourage passengers to spend a bit more money while flying, Korean Air has made several adjustments to its cabin to increase comfort. Each economy class seat has 34 inches of legroom, which required carefully configuration of the cabin. Each seat also comes with its own universal power outlet.

Korean Air has also made a rather fun innovation, using its customer database to show how much it cares about passengers. If its your birthday or you're a couple flying off to enjoy your honeymoon, Korean Air provides a beautifully decorated cake at no extra cost!

Asiana Airlines has put a lot of effort on premium quality service. The airline added trained chefs and sommeliers to their cabin crews for a better culinary experience. It also hosts on-board magic shows and makeup classes to entertain passengers.
