Korean American filmmaker awarded at AAIFF

Korean American filmmaker Michael Choi won the Screenplay Competition awarded by the Asian American International Film Festival(AAIFF) for his script Cranes. The 30th AAIFF will run from July 19-28 at the Asia Society presented by Asian Cinevision.

Michael Choi works as a director, editor, and motiongraphics artist in New York. His recent clients include HBO, ESPN, and The Sopranos. Previous winners include Michael Kang's "The Motel" and 2006 KOFIC FDL fellow, Mora Stephens' "Georgia Heat". Cranes is a story about love and family, which follows three generations of Korean women- through the Korean War, the immigration to American, and into the present day. There will be a staged reading of the screenplay at the Asia Society at 4 PM on July 28th.
