Korean Animation: First look at Milkway Hitchhiking

First announced in January, Milkyway Hitchhiking is a Korean manhwa title from Sirial. In this slice of life, the stories revolve around a great wish granting cat named Milkyway, a great cat but he already knows that about himself and has no problems with expressing it. As the stories progress, he meets individuals who help show lessons of simple caring and understanding beauty that is all around you. Before these lessons can come to pass though, Milkyway must express himself with writing that could rival the strongest of tsunderes.

Yen Press has already published the first two chapters within their online magazine Yen Plus and presents a beautiful full color title washed in a style resembling watercolors. A welcome departure from the standard designs that fans have grown accustomed to in manga, the artwork is filled with odd angles and designs unlike anything in your typical moe title from the same genre. While Chi might have large eyes and a desire to please, Milkyway has long flowing fur that practically glitters on your screen and a sarcastic attitude that reminds me of the reasons why I'm not really a cat person.

This is a gorgeous title that already leaves me desiring more. This is a title for those who enjoy slow titles such as Aria. Each chapter you read will draw you further into a path that has no clear end in sight but if you take the time to appreciate the beauty along the way, it won't matter.
