Korean Comedy and Mystery Drama on Silver Screen This Weekend

2007/10/19 | 264 views | Permalink | Source

And finally let's take a look at upcoming movies.
Two Korean films are getting attention this week.
One is a comedy and the other is a mystery drama set in the Joseon Dynasty.
There is also a New Zealand flick and a Hollywood movie based on a popular video game.
Here is Lee Jeewon.
"Going by the Book" is a movie that depicts the main character's mode of life.
The story begins when a new police chief comes to Sampo City and orders a mock bank robbery to train the local police officers.
The man appointed to play the bad guy is Jung Doman, who seeks hard to execute his missions.
Unlike his colleagues who want a quick end to the training, Jung puts his heart into becoming the best pseudo-burglar.
His performance is so good in fact, it starts to cause trouble.

Next up is another Korean movie.
The "Shadows in the Palace" is a debut film by director Kim Mi-jung.
The part-mystery and part-thriller portrays the life of court ladies in the Joseon Dynasty and is receiving great reviews.
In addition to the novel topic and characters, movie buffs say the details in props are a pleasure to look at.

The "Samoan Wedding" is from New Zealand.
It's basically a Kiwi version of the Hollywood "Wedding Crashers" with all-polynesian casting.
There are many Samoans living downunder as New Zealand has governed Samoa from World War l until it gained independence in 19-62.

Last on the list is the latest Resident Evil series.
Model-turned-actress Milla Jovovich plays Alice who tries to protect mankind from a third human species.
She is the survivors' only hope and strengthens herself through genetic mutations.
The producers say the movie's cutting edge computer graphics provide unprecedented viewing experience.
