Korean Competitors at Singapore Fest

The Korean titles "Ad-Lib Night" and "Like A Virgin" are selected for the Silver Screen Awards competition by the Singapore International Film Festival. Singapore will host the festival's 20th anniversary from April 18 until April 30.

Both "Ad-Lib Night" and "Like A Virgin" were also programmed at the 2006 Pusan International Film Festival and the 2007 Berlin Film Festival.

"Ad-Lib Night" is the third feature of director Lee Yoon-ki. In the film a young woman is mistaken for someone else, but agrees to pretend to be the other person – a young woman who ran away - in order to let a dying man believe that he saw his daughter one last time.

"Like A Virgin" is the directorial debut of the friends Lee Hae-yeong and Lee Hae-joon, who both worked before as scenario writers. The film portrays a male high school student who likes to imitate the singer Madonna and he seeks funds to pay for transsexual surgery. He joins a wrestling team when he learns about the prize money for winning a wrestling competition.

The Singapore International Film Festival focuses on young and new talents. The Sri Lankan Sankara has been chosen as the opening film and the Indonesian Opera Jawa will be the closing film.
