Korean Culture Festival opens in Russia

A ten-day festival in Moscow, Russia themed to showcase the beauty of Korean culture is attracting hundreds of residents there to enjoy Korea's traditional music, dance and even the famous b-boy performances.
Reporter Kim Jeesoo takes us to the scene.
Korean culture isn't well-known to the general Russian public.
However, at the Korea Festival in Moscow, a mix of western and traditional Korean string instruments woos the hearts of Russians unfamiliar with traditional music from Korea.
"I really liked the song 'Arirang'. I think this is the best Korean song".
"I came here with my Korean friends and I enjoyed it very much. I was very moved by the traditional Korean music".
Korea's famed Gayaguem artist Whang Byungki was also on stage for the event, marking the first known Gayageum performance in Russia.
Gayageum is a traditional Korean instrument with twelve strings.
The Russian audiences were able get a taste of 'Chimhyangmoo', a famous Gayageum trio piece Whang wrote.
"Of all my works, Chimhyangmoo is the most frequently performed piece around the world. This is the reason why I included it in the program".
The Korea Festival in Moscow is the second part of a Korea-Russia cultural exchange that started in 2006.
Last year, the Russia Festival came to Seoul.

Korean movie festivals, performances by the National Dance Company of Korea, the Korea National Ballet, and also b-boys will take place in theaters around Moscow for the next ten days.
