Korean Film-Only Theater in Japan Postponed

Korea has postponed until January 2007 a plan to open a theater exclusively for Korean films in mid-October at Image Forum Theater Sibuya in Tokyo, Japan.

According to the Korea Film Council on Friday, the plan was delayed because an international film festival will be held in Tokyo at the same time and because a Japanese promotion agency for the theater had asked for more time.

The film council and Image Forum Theater had agreed in April to open a Korean movie-only theater that would show independent Korean films for 12 weeks out of the year.

Four Korean films are scheduled to show at the theater.
