The Korean Film Council's ticket sales data show 21-point-eight million South Koreans went to the movies in February. This is up 67 percent from 13 million in the same month last year.

Korean films drew 18 million moviegoers last month for a share of nearly 83 percent. It's the highest in monthly ratings in seven years since the figure reached 85 percent in October 2006.

Industry pundits cautiously predict Korean films could even attract 200 million viewers for the whole of this year.
