In its annual list of 100 inspiring individuals, the magazine OOOM placed Koo at No. 32, calling her a "visionary". It wrote that Koo "has reinvented room concepts since the 1990s".
The list, in its fourth edition this year, recognizes people who have "inspired, influenced or motivated", as voted on by prominent figures such as Nobel Peace Prize laureate Betty Williams.
Teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg topped this year's list, followed by actress Jane Fonda in second place and former U.S. first lady Michelle Obama in third.
Koo has been praised for her installation artwork "OooOoO", a fluorescent skatepark designed for the Triennale Milano, which opened last month in Milan, Italy.
The site-specific installation is located in an old building and allows visitors to enjoy skateboarding in the glimmering light of fluorescent color paints, rather than traditional lights. It will be exhibited until Feb. 16.
