Korean Movie Breaks Record in Japan

The South Korean movie "Everybody has Secrets", starring Lee Byung-hun and Choi Ji-woo, which is to open in Japan Nov. 27, is likely to become a huge hit as 30,000 tickets have already been booked as of Nov. 25.

The movie is expected to enjoy as much popularity as "Untold Scandal", starring Bae Yong-joon, which was shown in Japan May 22. The Japanese press predicts that "Everybody Has A Secret" will record the highest score for a Korean movie to be ever shown in Japan, and as many as 40,000 tickets will be sold by the premiere day.

Japanese sports newspapers also projected an unprecedented feat for "Everybody Has A Secret" Nov. 26, saying that more tickets are expected to be booked for the movie than for "The Scandal". "So far, 'Swiri' was the most profitable Korean movie in Japan, recording 1.8 billion yen, while 'The Scandal' featuring Yonsama Bae Yong-joon fell short of expectations, recording only 800 million yen.

`Everybody Has A Secret' stands a good chance of breaking the record", said a person close to Doei Entertainment, the company in charge of the movie's distribution in Japan.
