Korean Movie “The Host” to Make Its North American Debut at Toronto Film Festival

The 31st Toronto International Film Festival announced its block of movie titles for Midnight Madness which includes a highly anticipated Korean Blockbuster The Host.
The Host, directed by Bong Joon-Ho, will compete with nine other titles. The a few notable competitors includes "Black Sheep" by Jonathan King from New Zealand, JT Petty of USA's "S&Man", "Princess" by Anders Morgenthaler of Denmark, and Briton's "Severance" by Christopher Smith.
The film festival will run from September 7 to 16, 2006. The Korean movie will make its North American Premier at this event. The movie officials plan to bring the movie to the US theaters on October or November of this year.
Moreover, The Host is also invited to compete at the 39th Sitges International Film Festival in Catalonia, Spain along with Kim Ki-duk's "Time".
The Host is scheduled to be released on July 27 in Korea. The Korean movie portrays an ordinary family engaged in a life-and-death struggle against a monster, which suddenly appears in the Han River. The film has received positive reviews due to its fine computer graphic work and concrete story-telling.
The film was acclaimed when it was introduced at the film market of the 59 Cannes International Film Festival in France last May.
