Korean Movie Wins Jury Prize at Deauville Film Fest

The Korean film "The Journals of Musan" won the Jury Prize at the 13th Deauville Asian Film Festival which wrapped up in France on Sunday, the film's distributor Jinjin Pictures said on Tuesday.

Directed by Park Jung-bum, who also plays the lead role, the film has screened to warm reviews at several film festivals, including the Pusan International Film Festival and the International Film Festival Rotterdam, and won the Grand Prize at the Marrakech International Film Festival.

It was also invited to the Hong Kong International Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival and the San Francisco International Film Festival.

The movie realistically depicts the difficult life of North Korean defectors who escaped to the South for survival but face overwhelming challenges in adjusting to life in their new home.
