Korean Pop Singer Rain Hits New York Stage

Korean pop singer Rain is knocking on the doors of the global music industry, hitting the American stage hard, with two concerts at New York's Madison Square Garden.
His first show was held Thursday evening, and another is scheduled for Friday, the first time a Korean singer is holding a solo concert in New York.
But his producer says the two concerts are just a prelude to Rain's long-term goal of breaking down cultural barriers, possibly becoming the first Asian pop star to succeed in America.
Ahead of Thursday's concert, Rain said he expects his show to be a good first step, in advancing into the foreign market.
The 23-year-old pan-Asian heartthrob has become the personification of Hallyu, or Korean Wave that's been sweeping across Asia.
