Korean Stars' Music Group Heads to U.S. Concerts for Christian Charity

A group of several dozen Korean stars, including famous acting couple Cha In-pyo and Shin Ae-ra, have recently come together to form Compassion Band, a musical group which will perform in the United States in support of Compassion International, a Christian child advocacy and sponsorship group. The group will perform at several Christian churches in the United States.

Cha and Sin, who will join many other Korean celebrities who have volunteered to take part in the concert tour, are known for their charity and child sponsorship work in Korea and have one adopted daughter. They are active members of Compassion International, which was founded by American evangelist Everett Swanson in 1952 during the Korean War as a ministry and charity focused on helping the many orphans in Korea at that time. It now operates in 25 countries.

"Despite the poor economic conditions in Korea in the past, many Korean children were able to grow up to become influential leaders with the help of Americans", said Seo Jeong-In, a spokesperson for Compassion International in Korea. "This concert will hopefully present great happiness and hope to the United States and as well as to the Korean community".

Compassion Band will perform under the title "Child Born In Our Hearts", at the Glory Church of Jesus Christ on March 7 and the Sarang Community Church on March 8, both in California. Later, the group will perform at the Korean Central Presbyterian Church on March 14 and the Open Door Presbyterian Church on March 15, both in Virginia.
