Korean Wave dramas and films to be integrated into Korean language textbooks

Korean textbooks will make use of Korean Wave dramas and films like 'A Jewel in the Palace' ("Dae Jang Geum"), 'Winter Sonata', 'JSA - Joint Security Area' and 'TaeGugKi'.

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced on March 15 that it would spend 20 billion Korean won this year for the distribution and promotion of Korea by inviting and training foreign Korean teachers, sending professors to foreign universities where Korean program is newly open, operating Korean Proficiency Tests, and opening Internet-based Korean lecturers.

Textbooks, which will be developed by the National Academy of the Korean Language, will follow a style in which specialists give an explanation of Korean culture or interesting expressions that appear on Korean Wave dramas or films. Currently, 15 films and 20 dramas are being considered to be used in the textbooks. This year, two films and two dramas have already been chosen to be integrated into such language textbooks.
