Korean Wave stars heat up Vietnam amid heavy rain

Despite heavy rain throughout the day, more than 5,000 Vietnamese fans attended the 2007 KOVINA Friendship Concert to see Korean Wave stars. The concert was held to commemorate the 15th year of Korea and Vietnam's friendship.

Held on July 3, 7 PM (local time) at the Puto Stadium in Ho Chi Minh, the 2007 KOVINA Friendship Concert was co-hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and KOCCA. The concert was conducted to commemorate the 15 years of friendship between the two countries and to also promote K-POP in Vietnam. In spite of the heavy rain that lasted throughout the day, the concert proved to be a huge success as 5,000 Vietnamese fans attended and enjoyed it.

The concert was hosted by Kangta, Korean singer and actor working actively in the Chinese regions, Park Jung-ah, Korean singer who made her first visit to Vietnam, and Huong, Vietnamese anchor of HTV. The concert also starred nine Korean artists and two Vietnamese pop singers.

Kangta, in particular, is a former main vocalist of H.O.T, the first Korean musical group who led the Korean Wave in China. There was also Paran, a five-member male group who is hugely popular in Thailand, and Shin, Hye-Sung, the former main vocalist of Shinhwa who had recently completed his successful concert tour to seven Asian cities last May.
