Synopsis
Hong Gil Dong was born as an illegitimate child. As he struggled discrimination while growing up, he became a bandit leader. Feeling frustrated, Gil Dong decides to leave Joseon and go to Qing. At the same time, he meets Heo I-nok, who is from Qing, and is determined to learn Chinese from her by all means. Meanwhile, I-nok returns to Joseon hoping to make a good fortune out of the medicine she found in Qing. However, she is facing an unexpected business crisis due to Gil Dong's interruption. To make the matter worse, I-nok is attacked by strangers because of the hairpin of the queen she accidentally picked up. Gil Dong appears like a hero and gets her off the hook. The two get tangled up and join Hwalbindang to help the poor, and the gang led by Gil Dong gains the people's trust day by day. Fear of losing public support, the king plans to get rid of Hwalbindang. Between the real heroes and those who seek to establish regal power, what will Gil Dong's fate be like?
