Kyeonggi Region's First Foreign Film Under New Incentive Programme

The Kyeongi region, which lies just outside of Seoul is celebrating the shooting of its first foreign film under its incentive programme initiated last year. The Japanese production is a remake of the film "Zero Focus" (1961) directed by Yoshitaro Nomura and based on novel written by famous novelist Seicho Matsumoto. The Kyeonggi region's incentive programme applicable to both Korean and foreign productions guarantees a 10% rebate of all production costs on films with a budget that exceeds 200,000,000 won (U.S. $161,000).

The shooting of the film celebrates 100 years since Matsumoto's birth who wrote mystery, historical novels and also non-fiction. Eight of his novels were subsequently adapted onto the big screen by director Nomura. "Zero Focus" is about a newly wed husband who goes on a business trip and does not return. His wife then embarks on a search which reveals secrets about his dark double life that involved prostitution and even murder.

The new remake of "Zero Focus" directed by Inudou Issin will begin shooting in March of 2010.
