Kyungin to promote Korean culture overseas

Kyungin Women's College said Tuesday its student delegation will promote Korean culture overseas during the summer vacation.

The 23-member delegation, dubbed the Korean Culture Delegation, will visit China and Vietnam starting Thursday, the school said. The college is the first to send students abroad to promote Korean culture, it added. The education ministry funded the event.

"We hope this promotional six-day tour will be an opportunity for our students to gain global experience, especially to those hoping to become global leaders", said Lee Ji-hwan, head of planning at Kyungin. "Knowing how much they rehearsed, I am sure they will connect with the audience".

The students will visit two vocational schools located in Shandong Province, China, from June 24 to 27. They are scheduled to visit Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, to hold two or three promotional performances at the Hanoi Korean Culture Center and local volunteer centers.

They will promote South Korea by performing Hwagwanmu, a traditional Korean dance; Samulnori, traditional percussion quartet and other contemporary Korean dances.
