Lee Byung-hun to Join Same Agency as Tom Cruise

The Korean showbiz firm Web has signed a contract with the U.S. entertainment agency CAA, which manages actors Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman and Cameron Diaz as well as movie director Steven Spielberg and producer Jerry Bruckheimer. The contract paves the way for Korean actors and movies to enter the global arena.

Web inked the contract with CAA on May 16 (local time). Earlier, the company established partnerships with the investment and distribution company Tube Entertainment and the entertainment agency Player Entertainment, which manages top Korean stars such as Lee Byung-hun, Shin Eun-kyung, Kim Sang-kyung, Lee Jung-jae and Jang Shin-young.

CAA is the largest celebrity agency in America and also oversaw the production of the expected blockbuster "War of the Worlds", directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Tom Cruise. It also manages producer David Franzoni, who recently bought the copyright for the U.S. remake of the movie "Joint Security Area", and South Korean movie director Kang Je-gyu.

"We plan to continue to introduce Korean actors and directors to the world, including the U.S. This contract will produce significant results in both the Korean and U.S. markets, and will serve as a springboard for the advancement of Korean movies overseas", said Web's CEO.
