LEE Joon-ki Awarded at Shanghai Fest

Young Korean star Lee Joon-gi will be presented with the Overseas Star Award at the 10th Shanghai International Film Festival on June 16th along with Hollywood actress Sharon Stone. LEE became an overnight sensation at home last year after starring as the gender-bending clown, Konggil, in the Lee Joon-ik's smash hit, "The King and the Clown".

With the release of the film in South East Asian markets, as well as the broadcast of successful TV drama "My Girl" in which LEE had a prominent role, his popularity soared in China. LEE's talent agency said the actor the will attend the Shanghai festival which opens June 16th running until the 24th.

LEE's latest film is a recently-released Korea-Japan co-production, filmed primarily in Kyoto called "Virgin Snow". LEE plays Min, a Korean university student who is transferred to Japan when his father, a professor, gets posted to Kyoto in an exchange position at a university. There, Min meets Nanae, a high school girl, played by MIYAZAKI Aoi, and promptly falls in love with her. The film and actor LEE's popularity hope to revive a waning Korean wave that has led to decreasing film sales to Japan.
