Lee Byung-hun, who starred the just concluded KBS hit, "IRIS", said he wanted a different ending of the drama, JoongAng Ilbo said Saturday.

"I suggested a happy ending in which I would hide to a remote place together with Seung-hee, my lover in the drama", he said.

In the drama, Lee was shot dead by an assassin.

The action-filled drama was also a physical challenge for Lee. "I am not too much into action. I thought I could stay up for three days for filming. Not more". He stayed up for five days for the final episode.

Jeong Tae-won, head of Taewon Entertainment Co., which produced the drama, said the sad ending was a ploy so that people can remember the drama for a long time afterwards.

With a huge success, its sequel is due next year.
