Lee Soon-jae advises idols who are acting "kids with no basics"

Veteran actor Lee Soon-jae (75) advised the current actor casting system.

At the SBS "Miracle Audition" press meeting on the 22nd in Cheon-an, Lee Soon-jae said, "In our time, acting was not a money-making job but a socially worthless profession. 90% of the people were against acting. However, now it's a profession of making money".

He then continued telling the hard truth, "That's why some people don't even appear in dramas but just do advertisements. It's hard to tell if they're a model or actor/actress. Then the're cast in dramas because of their model-like image".

"Using idols is like that. How can kids who don't have the basics pull it off? Viewers also just put up with it but that's wrong".

He continued to introduce an example overseas, "There are no other places that cast their actors like this. Even Beyonce from movie "Dream Girls" would've been chosen for the role right away in our country for who she is but she went through 4 auditions for the reason that her body was bloated. That took 6 months. This is how it works in other countries".

He gave his opinion, "Luckily we have a lot of geniuses in our country so we can go pick someone who was singing just the other day and put that person in a drama but I think they should be trained for a while again".

"Miracle Audition" is an acting audition program made by SBS and actors and actresses Kim Kap-soo, Lee Mi-sook, Lee Beom-soo, Kim Jung-eun and director _Kwak_Gyeong-taek are the "Dream Masters" judges. Here, Lee Soon-jae along with professor Choi Hyeong-in from Hanyang University pass on his acting philosophy to the students as special advisory consultant.

So far, the audition has gone through 20,000 applicants and down to 30, who have joined the "Miracle School". The members of "Miracle School" receive acting lessons with the "Dream Masters". Lee Soon-jae attended the entrance ceremony and met the students.

"Miracle Audition" will be broadcasted for the first time on the 24th of June at 11:05 PM.
