Actress Lee Tae-ran got married to a businessman of the same age on Saturday afternoon in a private Christian ceremony with only family and relatives in attendance as the couple decided to have a small-scale wedding.
Lee said she had little interest in getting hitched before she vicariously experienced the ups and downs of married life through her last two TV soaps, "Goddess of Marriage" on SBS and "The Wang Family" on KBS.
In the soaps, Lee played two women trapped in unhappy marriages due to unfaithful or indifferent husbands, but, ironically, it was these roles that caused her to start thinking seriously about the prospect of getting hitched. She came to the conclusion that getting married would be better than being single if she could just find the right man.
"I thought it would be nice to be married and have a child. Then I might be able to expand the range of roles I can play", she said.
