Lee made the donations to aid relief efforts, especially for people with disabilities or children left disabled after the earthquakes.

Pohang was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4 on the Richter scale on Wednesday last week, three days after Iran was struck by a deadly 7.3 quake.

"My heart broke when I heard of the suffering of people in Pohang who lost their homes and sustained injuries, and in Iran, where people loved my drama 'Jewel in the Palace' so much. It saddens me even more to hear that the reports of damage are getting worse, so I wanted to help out", Lee said through the foundation.

The foundation delivered W56 million of Lee's donation to the Iranian Embassy in Seoul on Monday. The remaining W50 million will be used to help families of the disabled in relief efforts in Pohang.
