LG Household Sets Sales Record Last Year

LG Household and Health Care set an annual sales record last year as its business divisions all achieved better results.

The company said on Wednesday its sales jumped 13.9 percent on-year to W7.69 trillion and its operating profit 13.2 percent to W1.18 trillion (US$1=W1,179).

The strong performance was mainly driven by its cosmetics business, which reported W4.75 trillion in sales, up 21.5 percent, and W897.7 billion in operating profit, up 14.7 percent. The premium label Whoo fared particularly well, accounting for more than half of the sales with W2.58 trillion, a record for a single Korean cosmetics brand.

LG's beverage business saw its sales rise 5.1 percent to W1.45 trillion and operating profit gain 12.9 percent to W152.7 billion. Its household goods business also improved with W1.49 trillion in sales and W126 billion in operating profit, up 1.8 percent and 4.6 percent, respectively.
