[Lisa's Movie Bite] "Cheese in the Trap - Movie" Gears Up for Release

Get ready, folks, because after the wildly popular manhwa and the successful (but controversial) drama, the "Cheese in the Trap" franchise is ready to drop the story in a third format: "Cheese in the Trap - Movie". This newest rendition retains Park Hae-jin in the leading role of Yoo Jeong, a smart, popular student with a dark streak that runs earily close to his fine veneer of good-looking perfection.

Set to release in theaters on March 14, "Cheese in the Trap - Movie" has the makings of success, especially if it follows the original numbers of the manhwa: 1.1 billion cumulative views. Park Hae-jin reprises his drama role in the film beside a new leading lady as Hong Seol, Oh Yeon-seo, whose career has been on fire as of late, especially with the currently airing "A Korean Odyssey". Hong Seol is a hard-working, quiet college student who sticks with her small group of friends and just wants to get through school life without incident. Based on the fact that she's in a movie, however, we know that incident upon incident will find her. Oh, and manhwa and drama versions of the story.

Joining Park Hae-jin and Oh Yeon-seo is a pretty solid cast made up of Park Ki-woong as Baek In-ho, the piano prodigy who is also a trouble-maker; Yoo In-young as Baek In-ha, In-ho's twin, an entitled spendthrift; Kim Hyun-jin plays Kwong Eun-tae and Sandara Park is Jang Bo-ra, Hong Seol's two closest friends. Oh Jong-hyuk, Oh Jong-hyuk, Na Hye-mi, and Lee Jung-hyuk flesh out the rest of the cast so far.

A couple of stills were released as teaser, and Oh Yeon-seo is sporting Hong Seol's infamous long, wavy, copper hair with the very familiar, adoring gaze of Park Hae-jin on her in the second still.

I am wondering how they will condense the complex character development into movie length. I have faith in the actors, but it is PD Kim Je-yeong's execution that I'm a little concerned about. He has plenty of experience under his belt, so best leave worries aside and leave it to him.

-Yours, Lisa
