The K-pop scene is currently dominated by female stars like Son Dam-bi, Baek Ji-young and girl groups Kara and Girls' Generation, but male singers are gearing up for a fruitful year ahead.

Duo Fly to the Sky released its new album, "Decennium", and will start appearing on music programs and shows together for the first time after two years of solo acts. The group celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, and members Brian Joo and Hwanhee have prepared a special anniversary album.

Their number "Go Away You" made headlines for being created with the help of R&B group Brown Eyed Soul member Jung Yup and Grammy Award-winning composer Gary Hasse. The group released the song

before officially releasing "Decennium", arousing curiosity among fans.

"Not only did famous composers participate in creating the album, but so did singers like Dynamic Duo and Leessang, unlike previous albums", People Creative, Fly to The Sky's agency, said.

Se7en, currently away preparing for his U.S. debut, will release his first digital single here and in the United States in March. The titular number "Girls" was to be released this month, but the singer's agency, YG Entertainment, said that they decided to release the album simultaneously in the United States, Japan and Korea. The 25-year-old singer's single made headlines here as it was produced by Dark Child, who has also worked on the albums of top singers like Michael Jackson, Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez. Grammy Award-winning rapper Lil' Kim also participated, increasing expectations among fans and fellow singers.

Shin Hye-sung, a member of pop group Shin-hwa, is also planning to return with the second installment of his third solo album, "Side 2 Keep Leaves". The 30-year-old singer released "Side 1 Live and Let Live" last August.

Title track "Why Did You Call" is different from his trademark ballads and features a more dynamic melody.

Fellow actor-turned-singer Im Chang-jung, a winner of numerous awards on account of his powerful, emotional singing, will also return to the pop scene with a new album after announcing his retirement from singing six years ago ― to the delight of fans who missed his soulful ballads. Im will continue to pursue acting.

"At the time, I was more focused on doing well on one thing, which was acting. I wanted to win the best male actor award for my movies", Im recently said during a television program.

His 11th album will be released in mid-March.
