MBC Entertainment Award Ceremony -- not dramatic or fun

"It seemed boring because it looked like it was giving everyone a prize, but it also looked like they were sharing the love, so it was good to see".

This was the speech made by Park Mi-sun, who was awarded the grand prize at the MBC Entertainment Award Ceremony. This event was held in the Ilsan MBC Dream Center on December 29th and was boring, as it lacked dramatic tension or a witty emcee.

As MBC had previously announced that the grand prize will not go to an individual but to a group, many assumed the award will go to the show "I Am A Singer", so there was none of the usual tension whatsoever. However, the award giving had become much more detailed and they gave awards to all celebrities who worked hard in their own fields. Therefore the stage was full of prize winners and it was weird for anyone to not get one.

The event got boring as the special award and the most popular award was also divideded into different types. At the end of the event, as if time was running out, Kim Na-young, who was asking all the groups about their expectations, rushed through them and finished. However MBC chairman Kim Jae-cheol, who was the next award giver, dragged on with his long speech.

Despite the fact that many members from "I Am A Singer" and "High Kick 3, The Short Legs Counterattack" received prizes, only two members from "Infinite Challenge" were awarded. Yoo Jae-suk got the grand prize and Jeong Jun-ha and Park Myung-soo were given the couple award.

There were also several mistakes in the proceedings. Seo Ji-suk and announcer Lee Jin appeared as the award givers and he said, "We couldn't show you a performance like we practiced because there aren't many cue-sheets and monitors". In the 2nd half of the show, the microphones didn't work during the team performance of YB and "I Am A Singer".

Broadcasting companies end-of-year award shows are to encourage those stars who have done their best throughout the year but also a show of gratitude for the viewers. However, the viewers get left out every now and then while choosing the award takers. The 2011 MBC Entertainment Award Ceremony was the perfect example.
