Memories of Murder, the acclaimed hit film by director Bong Joon-ho, was named winner of three awards by three different juries at the 51st San Sebastian International Film Festival in Spain. Referred to as "the great winner of the festival" by Filmfestivals.com, the film won the Silver Shell for Best Director, the Altadis New Director Award, and the FIPRESCI award from international film critics. This marks the second time that director Bong has showcased his work at the San Sebastian festival, with his debut film Barking Dogs Never Bite winning plaudits at the 2000 edition of the festival.

Meanwhile, the Prize of the Audience was presented to director Kim Ki-duk's Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring. The film was recently selected as Korea's submission in the Best Foreign Language category at the Academy Awards.
