More Korean Moviegoers Watched Domestic Films in 2006

The Wall Street Journal Online an international daily newspaper in the US featured a story called "Korea's Movie Magic", which dealt with the country's latest screen quota system.
Despite earlier concerns that the domestic screen quota cut will hurt the Korean film industry, the paper pointed out that more Korean moviegoers opted to watch domestically-produced films this year than ever before.
The daily added the trend is a clear indication that the implementation of the screen quota cut back in July to 73 days from the previous 146 days has not kept Korean filmgoers from enjoying domestic productions.
In fact, a record number of 110 Korean films are expected to hit silver screens this year in total up from 87 in 2005.
