In the survey of 3,040 people by Korea Agro-Fisheries and Food Trade Corporation, 56.5 percent said they have eaten out alone in the past month.

Men eat out alone 7.3 times a month and women 5.5 times, but those in their 20s do it much more frequently.

On average Koreans dine out every other day and spend W310,000 a month (US$1=W1,187).

Based on its findings, the agency forecast that the trend will continue next year as people no longer feel uncomfortable dining out alone and a growing number of restaurants and bars cater to single customers.
