Movie Producers Focus on Sets

This movie is about a man who commits suicide by throwing himself into the Han River but by some freak coincidence he survives and wakes up to find himself on an island.
According to the production team they were only able to film on the actual island for a week because the area is a government-designated nature preserve.
Korean movies enjoyed a major boom a few years back but lately the domestic movie industry has been seeing a slowdown with many production companies failing to break even.
And so to reverse the trend Korean movie makers are kicking it up a notch by focusing more on details of the setting.
As for the production team they ended up searching all the major rivers in Korea to find the one that most resembles the original scene.`

[Interview : Jung Jae-young Main character] "When we filmed on the island in the Han River, we had to travel by boat and couldn't even smoke or eat because it's a government-protected nature area".

This next film is a romantic movie about Empress Myungsung and her bodyguard 200 years ago.
The 2-thousand-600-square-meter-wide movie set is supposed to mirror the actual palace of Empress Myungsung.
It took months of hard work for set workers to create the illusion of authenticity.
So when casually munching on popcorn during a movie that takes just two hours to view at the theater moviegoers should appreciate the hurdles producers must overcome even for background details.
