Movie "Real" - Is it worth it to watch this movie?

The movie "Real" has been getting a lot of attention from the day 1 of the official announcement. The  fact that this movie was actor Kim Soo-hyun's first choice of work after his last drama, "Producers" in 2015 was more than enough to gain viewers' attraction. Along with that, everyone's trusting the veteran actor, Sung Dong-il's part in the movie and having South Korea show industry's trouble maker, Sulli having some scandalous scenes.

3 Impact points of the movie

- Intense Mise-en-Scène

The focus of cameras, graphic and visual is top notch quality. The movie explored lots of different method in graphic effect, which helped the viewers feel the confusion of Jang Tae-yeong first hand. All the R-rated shows of the casino and blood-scented noir visual will overpower your eyes.

- Actor Kim Soo-hyun's double role

Actor Kim Soo-hyun challenged himself as an actor in this movie as he played a unique double role. His effort was felt through the movie screen as he put a lot of details in playing two different characters who have same the name, face and height. His effort was successful as it was easy to spot them separately depending on the slight change in the voice tone and little behaviors.

- Kim Soo-hyun and Sulli's bed scene

This particular scene was an issue maker ever since it was announced to the public. To give you a solid answer, Sulli have an upper body nude scene and Kim Soo-hyun have the whole back side nude scene.

3 Missing points of the movie

- Missing story line

It was 100% honesty when people said "Not sure what I just watched". As soon as the movie was over, people looked around and murmured in confused unison.

The perspective of the movie changes so rapidly and not many explanation was given.

- Missing characters

Actor Lee Kyung-young's character was quite unnecessary in this movie. Even the director himself said that he feels sorry to the actor since there wasn't a lot of explanation given about his character.

Even the other characters felt pretty empty, overall confusing of the purpose of these characters.

- Missing message

Everyone agreed that the director was trying to convey a certain message but it was too abstract and difficult to understand. The movie itself was colorful and showy but that's about it.

Conclusion: Tons of image and eye candies but no story in this movie. The actors are top class and their acting is no-doubt high quality, yet, you have no idea what you just watched. If you are a fan of the cast, I wouldn't stop you but if you are curious about the movie itself, I don't recommend.
