[Movie] The Cinematheque Friends Film Festival Opens on January 15

Designed to sponsor Cinematheque, "Cinematheque Friends Film Festival", raises the curtain on January 15.

The festival in its 5th year will continue until February 28 at Seoul Art Cinema in Jongno-gu, Seoul.Movie directors, actors and industry representatives will choose the movies to screen during the festival and engage in talks with audiences.

More than 20 celebrities including directors Park Chan-wook and Jeon Gye-soo, actor Ahn Sung-ki and movie critic Jung Sung-il will attend the event.

The program line-up includes "Cinema Club" where aspiring movie directors can converse with star directors including Bong Joon-ho and Ryoo Seung-wan, "John Ford Special" that will provide a unique opportunity for participants to appreciate the movies of John Ford, the epitome of American movies and the maestro of western films in new print, and "Meet the Writers" where attendees can meet promising young writers and learn about the works of directors Bae Chang-ho and Kim Jung.

Particularly, director Bae Chang-ho who made "Deep Blue Night", "Whale Hunting" and other hit movies of the 1980s will premier his new movie "The Trip" at the festival. It is a 3-episode omnibus film: The Journey follows a young couple travelling around Jeju Island, Vacation is about a girl living on the island and Outing is a story about a housewife enjoying a short getaway from the same everyday routine.
