Movie 'The Student Spy' by director Whang Cheol-mean was selected as a strong candiate for The Human Rights Award of The 34th Rotterdam International Film Festival to be held from Jan. 26 through Feb. 6, this year.

The Human Rights Award will be announced in an awarding ceremony of this Prize on Feb. 2 during the Rotterdam International Film Festival.

Prior to this, movie 'The Student Spy' has garnered interest by being invited to the VPRO Tiger Awards, a competition part of the Rotterdam International Film Festival. 'The Student Spy' was selected as one film among a total of 11 movies from around the world, which were chosen as candidate films for the Human Rights Award.

Movie 'The Student Spy' raises human rights issue through a tragedy of an era that a mean act of state such as watch, a menace, torture and cold war, the national security law and spy fabrication etc. made.
