Movie 'Yeochiso - Windstruck' breaks through 1 million in Japan

Movie 'Yeochiso - Windstruck' starring Jun Ji-hyun has recorded an audience mobilization of 1.1 million people as of Jan. 4, 2005 plus income of a total of 14.7 billion won (approximately 1.47 billion yen).

iFilm, the production firm of this film, said, "This record is the second best box office success following 'Shiri' of 18 billion won among Korean films released so far, exceeding 'Taegukgi: the brotherhood of War' of 1.2 billion yen.

Since the movie's release on Dec. 11, last year in Japan, 'Yeochinso' is continuing its box-office success, being ranked within the 10th position circles during four consecutive weeks.

The Romantic Comedy that pairs a spunky policewoman with a sweet teacher stars Jeon Ji-hyepn, the actress from the hit comedy "Yopgijogin Kunyo (My Sassy Girl)".

When police officer Kyungjin met with Myungwoo accidentally in a crime, she found that this responsible teacher was a really nice guy. At that night, Kyungjin got into a fight with a bunch of high school kids and got trouble in a big gun fight between rival drug dealers.

Myungwoo tried to help her but then something happened that forces them stayed together all day long. They got closer to each other and Myungwoo was not able to repulse the strange but pure nature. He fell in love with her.

One day, when Kyungjin was chasing a notorious criminal, Myungwoo helped her again, however, not knowing that what would happen that day changed their relationship forever...

"Nae Yojachingu-rul Sogaehapnida (Windstruck)" seems to have all the ingredients for a commercial hit. Funded by a Hong Kong company and produced by Bill Kong, who also worked on Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, the film brings together two-thirds of the team behind the popular Romantic Comedy "Yopkijogin Kunyo (My Sassy Girl)" - Jun Ji-hyun, actress and star of a multitude of television commercials, and director Kwak Jae-yong.

The romantic leads of "Windstruck" - Kyong-jin (Jun), a cute but tough policewoman, and Myong-woo (Jang Hyuk), a shy but lovable high school teacher - are reminiscent of "Sassy Girl's" famous pair, except a bit older and out of college.

They meet in a typically oddball fashion, with Myong-woo trying to chase down a purse-snatcher only to get mistaken for the criminal and get chased down himself by Kyong-jin.

Sometime later, after a night of being handcuffed to each other and getting stuck in the middle of a drug cartel shootout, the two, of course, begin dating.

Some of the more humorous parts of the film come out of the odd couple's romantic misadventures, such as Myong-woo talking sweetly on the cell phone with her boyfriend during the middle of a dangerous chase, or Kyong-jin getting himself in hilarious binds while frantically trying to play the knight in shining armor.
