Movies to catch at 12th SIYFF

This year's festival will open with the magical Dutch film "Eep!" Featured in the 60th Berlin International Film Festival, the film is about Viegeltje, a girl with wings instead of arms.

The film also made headlines for featuring Kenadie Jourdin, a girl suffering from primordial dwarfism dubbed "the littlest angel", in the lead role. The seven-year-old will visit Korea during the festival.

"SIYFF has been trying hard to focus on diversity, to bring interest to minority groups such as the physically disabled and mixed race families in Korea", said the festival director.

Kim himself recommends "Oh My God" (2009, United States). Director Peter Rodgers explores the age old question about the meaning of God in this critically acclaimed film. Top stars such as Hugh Jackman and David Copperfield make appearances. "The film transcends religiosity and touches upon universal values such as compassion and respect", said Kim.

The festival programmer Won Yoon-gyung suggests films such as "7 Days in Slow Motion" (2009) from India, about a young film fanatic who tries to shoot a film in seven days unknown to his strict parents.

The Welcoming the World Home section will introduce fans to sports dramas as a complement to the ongoing South Africa World Cup. The program features two football movies set in South Africa, "Themba" and "Finding Lenny".
