Natl. Assembly Passes 2 Controversial Bills

Korean lawmakers today passed, a long disputed media bill AND a bill calling for a special probe, into the October by-elections hacking scandal.
Opposition lawamkers have been raising suspicions that, ruling party members were involved in the hacking attack, that targeted the National Election Commission's website, saying, the prosecution had NOT done enough, to clear up their suspicions.
And a revised version of the media bill, railroaded by the ruling party in 2009, was also passed today.
The revised bill is likely to benefit owners of the country's, FOUR newly-launched broadcast stations, by letting them sell advertising time for the first three years after launching.
Korea's broadcast stations are usually obliged to sell their ads, through the state-run Korea Broadcast Advertising Corporation.
