New Releases & Indie Film Fest

It's Friday so we need to check on what's new at the movies.
We have a period drama from England's flourishing imperial days, and an addition to one of the hottest horror series to come along this decade.
Plus indie film lovers can head out to Myeongdong for this year's Independent Film Festival.
Lee Jeewon has our preview.
First is a sequel to the seven-time Academy Award-nominated movie "Elizabeth" starring Cate Blanchett and Geoffrey Rush.
They join hands once again in "The Golden Age", a historical thriller with treachery and romance.
The movie portrays the changing religious and political ties of late 16th century Europe and how the Queen of England strived to defend her empire.
Despite the elaborate set and fancy costumes movie critics say it lacks the creativity of the original "Elizabeth", released 9 years ago.

Next is the latest in the series of the American horror movie "Saw".
The fourth movie goes back to the origin of the story telling why the main character Jigsaw is the way he is.
But it still retains heaps of torture devices and gore in the movie, including a graphic autopsy.
Also keeping the series together is the return of Darren Lynn Bousman, director of the previous 2 sequels.

Turning now to what's happening in the country.
The 33rd Seoul Independent Film Festival is taking place in the capital til next Friday.
The festival kicked off Thursday at Indie Space in the heart of Seoul, and visitors can expect to see a collection of previous award-winning indie films, as well as new ones.
Thai filmmaker Apichatpong Weerasethakul is the foreign director of the year, and 8 of his experimental pieces will be showcased at the fest.
